Additional Information: Dr. Dahl

1. Chemistry 223 is a 2 credit laboratory to accompany Chemistry 222 lecture.

2. It is required that the lecture and laboratory courses be taken together. If you withdraw from lecture you must also withdraw from the laboratory at the same time. If you audit lecture, then you can remain in the laboratory but only if you continue to attend lecture.

3. Chemistry 222 and 223 are specifically designed for students majoring in the basic sciences or science intensive areas. Chemistry 120 and 121 and math 118 are prerequisites © or better) for the 222-223 sequence.

4. If you have any questions about prerequisites, the lecture-lab combination or withdrawal/audit problems please ask me at your earliest convenience.

*Do not underestimate the importance of the exams or the questions that accompany each experiment.

* I will inform you of the general range of topics covered on each exam the week before each is given.

*It is important to attend every lab meeting. If you have an emergency and must miss a lab meeting, notify me ahead of time. If you let me know ahead of time, arrangements may be made to make it up.

*Assigned work and experiment reports are due first thing each period. All work must be handed in on time. There is a 10 point penalty for each class period an experiment's Report Sheet is late. Work will not be accepted after two periods have passed, counting the day the assignment was due.

*Appropriate units must accompany each measured or calculated value. A number is meaningless without units. The penalty is 3 points for each missing unit? BE AWARE!!

*You must clearly show how you obtained answers to problems and experimental results. If work is absent or not logically presented, no credit will be given!

*Academic Dishonesty

“Students who commit any act of academic dishonesty may receive from the instructor a failing grade in that portion of the course work in which the act was detected or a failing grade in a course without the possibility of withdrawal. The faculty member may also present the case to the Office of the Dean of Student Life for disciplinary sanctions.”

“No student shall receive or give assistance not authorized by the instructor in taking an examination or in the preparation of an essay, laboratory report, problem assignment or other project which is submitted for the purposes of grade determination.”

*“ Students with disabilities who require accommodations (academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids or services) for this course must contact the Office for Student Disability Services, Room 445, Potter Hall. The OFSDS telephone number is 745-5004 V/TDD.
